I WANT AND NEED AN ACCESSIBLE SPRINT OR NEXTEL PHONE!!! I PERFER 1 I CAN TALK, TEXT, AND USE DIRECT CONNECT ON. ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT OR IF U HAVE 1 4 SELL LET ME KNOW.
I don't know if its available any longer, but I have the I355. This frankly, is a clunky phone by today's standards. I got it because it was cheap, and the speech is a free download. The phone cost about 90 bucks. The contacts and recent calls speak. The main menu speaks, but unless you have the patience to work with the submenus, that's the extent of the accessibility. There's a phonebook manager program you can download from the Nextel site that is fairly accessible. I use this to edit my phonebook so that all the names are spelled correctly. There is also the I580. this is smaller, and more functions talk, but I don't know how accessible the text messaging features are.
Lou
do u know how accessible the text messaging features r on the 1 that u have?
Well, the short answer is in two wrods. They aren't. *smile*. I'm honestly not concerned about it, but as more and more of my friends and co-workers use text messaging, I'm getting slowly more concerned about it. I wish I could be of more help to you. Have you looked on their website to see if they have anything? I did, but it was several months ago, and as you know, this technology changes so fast.
Good luck finding an accessible sprint phone. While under contract with sprint, I searched, it seems, endlessly for a phone that would bbe compatible with speech, but alass, to no avail. Frankly, I'm unsure if they've even the brain power needed to come up with such a device.
if you are on sprint or verizon then get your self a windows mobile phone ... thats all you need to know.. just go to a sprint store and ask them which windows mobile smart phone they have. the web site may also tell you which ones are but i don't kow for sure. But a windows mobile smart phone and mobile speak is the only way you are gonna get a fully accessible phone on those networks. If all you care about is the contact list being accessible and text messages being read then alot of the LG and Samsung non smart phones on both those networks will have some level of built in speech for those 2 tasks. Yeah the customer service people may not be able to really help you with that stuff so you may have to go to a sprint store aand play with the phones to see if they can do what you want. but unless you get an iPhone, or soon the one of the google phones, its either a a phone with mobile speaks or talks on it or a somewhat accessible phone like the LG or Samsung phones that verizon and sprint has.
I have a cell phone that is a Motorola q9c and it has Mobile speak installed. It works great.
Are you using it on Sprint or Nextel Networks?
Lou
We have sprint.
Sprint sells a lg phone called the lg muzik phone. It almost talks everything except for some internet web cites and text messages. I used a palm centrio phone with moble speak and it worked very well with sprint. Right now I am using the new palm pre and there is no speech for it, because it is brand new so do not get this one. I am going back to my old palm phone. Good luck and best wishes.
Hello, up on the access electronics board, there is a topic for Sprint accessible phones. The lg lotus is the only one coming to mind, but I know there are a couple more. Of course, like said above, that is the style of phone where it is mostly accessible. Txt, contacts, phone status, etc.
Code factory has quite the selection. HTC Snap, Samsung Ace, then their PDA list is much larger.
The moto q9c is an older model phone, so with some shopping around, you may find a second hand one, and it seems folks are often selling mobile speak on here.
In fact, I think there is a post on this board for a mobile speak smart phone for sale, and I believe the person has a q for sale as well. Good luck to ya!
i just went 2 the sprint store, got the rumor 2, took it home 4 1 day and i like it, it was on point!! the only thing that got on my last nerve i couldn't text or brows the web which is annoying. I came to the conclusion i wont have a phone with direct connect which sucks, but at least ill have a phone where i can text and all that gud stuff. if u r going with sprint and have no money 4 msp, i highly recommend the lg rumor 2!! its nice n small and u can add contacts, but u have 2 have a sighted person help u and the guy at the sprint store was so helpful! i guess there r some helpful ppl in this world somewhere, lol! n e way if u wana know more then send a msg on here.
most lg phones does have a way to make the text messages accessible i am surprise that one doesn't i'd consult the manual dig around online, or call up LG themselves.
